If you want to learn kiteboarding you need to have your gear; otherwise, you won’t be able to practice hard. Kiteboarding gear is expensive. So, after buying it you need to take good care of it so that it lasts long.
Use protective bags
You must always keep your kites and boards inside protective bags. This will reduce the chance of damage due to the sun or sand. When you are not using the kite, don’t leave it on the beach as it will get exposed to the sun’s harmful UV rays. Make sure the kite is dry.
Saltwater can damage the kite so get rid of it before putting the kite inside the bag.
Fix small problems right away
You must check your kite canopy after every session to see if there is something wrong. If you notice small holes in the kite, fix them with kite repair patches. You must apply them to both sides of the fabric.
You must clean the canopy with alcohol so that the patches stick better. If you have larger holes then you must take the kite to a professional shop to get it re-stitched.
Take care of bar and lines
You must re-calibrate the bars with time. Check all the safety features of the bar and make sure that they are in place. Always clean the bar and lines with freshwater as saltwater may damage them.
If you tune your board regularly your performance will improve. You should look for dents, chips, and cracks and fix them right away. For minor problems, you can use an epoxy resin. For major problems, you must take the board to the professionals for fixing.
No matter how strong the board is, it is prone to accidents and damages. So, you must maintain the gear well and fix problems early to keep it in good condition all the time.
